Hide away time...

South Haven, Michigan, 22aug 2017

They have arrived, my mother and our daughter, after a long journey from home (for a 90 year old...)

That grandmother has traveled all the way from Sweden at the age of 90 is just so amazing. Never thought it would happen. But when the will exists - and the energy ....

We had a tough night with big swell into the small town of South Haven at the Black River and the marina we lay in. The pails were too tight for the boat and the whole boat shook when it hit one pillar after the other. Up and undo, put your fenders, move the dingy and generally check the situation. Very uncomfortable and at dawn we had to move to a better place. Not much better, but a bit .... Grandmother and Petra slept well through the night, the jet lagged´s sleep :)

Now the sun shines again and the two-meter-high waves will disappear until tomorrow. Then the journey continues south to the next town and eventually to down town Chicago!

Holland was a very nice town, typically Dutch with an American touch :) They even have Tulip Festival i May each year and a milloin turists come to visit it.

They even had entertainment for us...:)

...and a lot of respect for God and the Country! 160 churches in Holland and it was founded by a Dutch Calvinist separatist in 1847; Dr Albertus van Raalte and the Dutch heritage is still strong as is the religion.

Austrian pastry... it looks so good...

..so did mother think too, and wanted some..

..so three generations "girls" gatherd around the cake table :D

Our beneficiary in Macataw marina, Gil, who drove us to places we needed to go to and we could borrow his car, to the car rental place. Thank you Gil!!

On the "road", on our way 25 miles south, to South Haven.

Change of Captains

South Haven is crowded with not only people, but also these and Canada Gees. And guess if they had a (loud) party yesterday night when we were fixing our lines three times due to the big swell from the gale...

South Haven Beach

..and the water was nice and warm.

Sight-seeing by mini cruiser

..and then the rain, thunder and gale came..

But next day the sun was shining again. Maybe not the most comfortable position to sun bathe (my opinion:)
