Fort Myers Beach - by mistake :)

Nu får det vara nog! Nu sticker vi till Naples, är trötta på att vänta! Vi lämnar Cape Coral där vi bara ankrat över natten för att fortsätta till Naples och i tidig morgon drar vi vidare söderut. Efter att nästan fått in båtgrannens osynliga triplina i propellern kommer vi iväg. Men vi kommer inte långt innan vi känner kulingen vina kallt från norr och US Coast Guard som varnar på VHF om ’Small Crafts warning” med hårt vind och höga vågor.... och just denna sträckan på drygt 30 miles måste vi dra utomskärs....!
Okay då! Vi vänder nosen mot närmaste hamn = Fort Myers Beach (inte att förväxla med Fort Myers längre norrut i Okeechobee River). Där ska finnas över åttio (!) bojar till gästernas förfogande. Vi passerar en stor motorbåt som just draggat och ligger skadeskjuten vid en brygga och när vi når bojområdet ser vi efter lite letande att varenda boj, alla, är upptagna. Hamnkaptenen bekräftar det! Vad är oddsen?
Med lite tur får vi en plats i en marina, ”Salty Sams Marina”, och det blir en dramatisk tilläggning i hård sidvind och motström som kaptenen klarar med bravur, bara grannbåtens ägare (i den nya fina båten) såg ut att slita sitt hår och stirrade stint på oss tills faran var över :)
Men vilken bonus, Ft Myers var verkligen en trevlig bekantskap. Vi tog cyklarna till stranden och gick en lång promenad i svensk högsommarvärme (och kuling). Räktrålaren hade just landat sin fångst när vi cyklade förbi på vägen hem och vi köpte 1kg prima räkor som sedan blev en fantastiskt god middag som avslutning på en oväntad dag
Imorgon Naples?!
Now that's enough, we’re tired of waiting! We’ll leave Cape Coral where we just anchored overnight to continue to Naples and in the early morning we continued south. After almost getting a boat's invisible trip line in the propeller.... But we did not get far before we felt the cool breeze from the north and the US Coast Guard warnping via the VHF about the "Small Crafts warning" with hard winds (up to 35kn) and high waves .... and just this distance of more than 30 miles we have to go off shore...!
Okay then! We turned our nose to the nearest port = Fort Myers Beach (not to be confused with Fort Myers further north in the Okeechobee River). There should be over eighty (!) Buys at the disposal for transient boat. We passed a big motorboat that had just dragged apand when we reached the mooring area, all bouys we’re occupied. The harbor captain confirmed that! What are the odds?
With a bit of luck, we got a slip in a marina, "Salty Sams Marina", it was a dramatic arrival in hard side wind and counter current, but the captain did it and did it well! Only the neighbor (in the new nice boat) seemed to tear his hair, staring at us until the danger was over :)
But what a bonus, Ft Myers Beach was really a nice acquaintance. We took the bikes to the beach and went for a long walk in “Swedish high summer weather”. The shrimp Trawler had just landed it’s catch when we biked home and we bought 1kg of prime prawns which then became a fantastic good dinner as ending on an unexpected day!
Tomorrow Naples ?!
