Au revoir froggy

Hur kan tiden rusa iväg så? Knappt hade "tjejerna" kommit ombord så var det dags för dem att bege sig hemåt igen med flyg från Chattanooga, fast med hyrbilen tog de en detour via Nashville. Det vill man ju inte missa!

Efter Chattanooga med Smokey Mountain gick båtfärden nedströms på Tennessee River med stopp för naturankringar och i små städer/byar. Sista stoppet, slutstation, var Florence där vi "gjorde sta'n"... eller försökte göra. Vi letade efter "down town" för att laborera i små butiker.... visserligen fanns det en centrumgata med lite äldre fina södernhus men det fanns inga människor och knappt några butiker :( Shoppar det gör man utanför städerna - i tråkiga malls! Livsmedel, nej inte på gångavstånd! Bilen är det enda sättet att få handlat lite mjölk och ägg. Det måste naturligtvis Sverige apa efter, utan att reflektera! Utan att fundera över vilka konsekvenser det får för samhällsbygget och för människorna! Tråkigt!

Men vilka trevliga människor de är, Amerikanerna! Överallt undrar de fascinerat över vad vi gör där, i deras lilla stad. What a cute accent... säger alla (och jag gnisslar tänder), de hör direkt att vi är från Germany... nästan rätt, säger vi och ler sött :) De hjälper oss att hitta, de talar om var kan ska äta gott, var alla museum finns och vilka fina gamla anrika hus vi måste se. De t.o.m. följer med oss och visar vägen.....!! Ibland fick vi backa flera meter innan vi kunde lämna, med ursäkten att "my husband is waiting for us" och ursäktande titta på klockan ;)

Men nu är det slut på båttur för grodor och grodkompisar! Nu ska det skuttas hem till höstsverige som just idag hade sol och 15grader. Tur det! Varmare än här! Jättekallt plötsligt och bitande vind, fast soligt! Hösten har kommit hit också....

Själva fortsätter vi resan via "Ten Tom Waterways" som går 450 miles i krokvägar söderut och mynnar ut, efter 11 slussar och med 370fot höjdskillnad, i Mobile, Alabama. Spännande!

Chattanooga to Florence - 250 miles from east to west along The Tennessee River!

After Chattanooga with Smokey Mountains, the boat trip went downstream on the Tennessee River with stops for anchorping and visits in small towns / villages. Last stop, final station, Florence. We were looking for "down town" to elaborate in small shops .... there was a central street with older fine southern houses but there were no people and barely any shops :( Shopping is done outside the towns - in boring malls! Food stores? No, not at walking distance! The car is the only way to get some milk and eggs. Of course Sweden has to copy without reflection! Without thinking about the consequences for the community and for the people...

How nice are they, The Americans! Everywhere they are fascinated by what we do there, in their small town. What a cute accent ... everyone says and they directly hear that we are from Germany ... almost right, we say w it's a sweet smile. They help us find where to eat, where all the museums are and which nice old enchanting houses we just have to see. The even follow us and show the way ..... !! Sometimes it's hard to leave, a few times with the excuse that "my husband is waiting for us" and with an apologetic watch the clock;)

Well, the times has come for our guests to leave and we will continue south towards the Gulf Coast, 450 miles and 11 locks to go that will take us 370 feet down to sea level. Exiting!
