A big wow for Sarasota

Vilken stad Sarasota är! Helt underbar! Där finns en gammal stadskärna med trevliga butiker, konstgallerier, barer och restauranger. Runt omkring är dock höghus (condos) för bättre belevade... Marint liv, massor av båtar men, framför allt, ett stort kulturutbud. Det största vi har upplevt bortsett från metropolerna förstås :)

Welcome to Sarasota! This is a must do on the West Coast of Florida. It has a quiant historic city with low rise old houses (its hard to tell from the city sky line) and it offers lots of nice restaurants and bars. But above all it’s a cultural gem.
The Ringling Brothers, who owned the biggest circus ever in the good old days. They acquired all small circuses until they had it all. The youngest of the brothers decided to invest his money from the circus business in real estate and oil, etc. and with the fortune he made he built this museum and collected a amazing amount of art, mainly from Europe from paintings dated from 1350 to 1800. And not only painting!
Lost in space.... Poor Lars, he had to spend five hours at the museum AND then, in the evening, another two hours in the theatre, watching a play :)
Pictures from the Intra Coastal Waterway, ICW. There is only a narrow sandbar or an inhabited strip of land that sheltered us from the ocean, the Gulf of Mexico.
Extremely shallow waters on the ICW! Even when the ICW is a lake they have dredged a ditch through it, 9 feet deep (3m).
..and with many bridges to pass. Most of them are low but have enough space for us to pass under.
Osprays again, building a nest for the babies to come.
We can’t believe how many wealthy people there are in this country! The ICW here is completely crowded with houses along the channel. Not all of them as big as this, but big! And many!
This poor sailing boat had just stranded and the crew is probably trying to do something about it but it futile without help! We saw two more stranded boats today :(
