Whitbread/Volvo Oceanrace med bl.a.

Dee and a tiny 2.4 and he is winning all the races!

The thunder and lightenings lit up the salon when we ate dinner on board. We felt today that there must be a discharge... and now it came. It’s been really windy for several days and now thunder... Everyone here are  wondering what's going on, what is the matter with the climate? While waiting for better weather we have been doing some long walks and cycling trips. One day, we went to a Wildlife Reserve where they help wild animals that have been found injured. Mostly birds.

We are lucky because we became acquainted with Dee Smith when he and his wife Jocelyn were interested in our boat to do The Great Loop. Now they found another boat but we got in touch and when we approached Tampa he invited us to Punta Gorda where he sailed small "2.4" (single-handed boat) in Paralympics class.

Dee has been a professional sailor and is now a sailor consultant with lots of great ocean racing in his resume. Whitbread / Volvo Oceanrace and much, much more. Ten years ago, he got cancer with little prospects to survive. Luckily he did! Unfortunately the illness gave him some physical disabilities.

Nothing can prevent Dee from sailing! He competes actively in paraolympics class and now they have bought a Mainship in addition to sailing and they are planning to do The Loop. Wonderfull! We were invited to the sailing club, which organized the current race, for dinner and then drinks in their new boat. So fun and interesting to hear about their fantastic sailing life;)

The Yacht Club in Charlotte Harbor and the 2.4’s waiting for the next race :)

Dee and Josh in their New boat, a very nice  Mainship 40!

To be able to handle all these lines (when disabled) is hard but necessary in order to sail the boat"........ Impressive!

The Fisherman’s Village Marina in the little City of Punta Gorda is a very nice place to stay a few days!
(The shoe shop here is magnificent:)

Itching like crazy...!

My beak may be a little crooked, but I have beautiful eyes  :)
